St. Nicholas Day School Celebration

Today the children at Sanderling Waldorf School celebrate Saint Nicholas Day.  Saint Nicholas, the patron saint of children, was a bishop born in the 4th century. He was known for secret gift-giving, such as putting gold coins, oranges, and walnuts in the shoes of those who left them out for him. Today, countries around the world celebrate the Feast of St. Nicholas on December 6th by having children leave their shoes outside their doors to receive special treats in the night.
